Athletic Eligibility- Attendance & Transfers

Attendance/Disciplinary Action  
 
Attendance: 
1. A student who is not in attendance on the day of an event (practice, athletic contest, concert, performance, etc.) is not eligible to participate in the event.  
2.  All students must be in school and signed in by 11:00 am (1/2 school day) every school day to be eligible to participate in extracurricular activities.  
3.  If a student comes in past 11:00 am, that student needs to have a medical excuse/college-university excuse to be considered excused and eligible to participate.  
4.  If a student leaves early (medical appointment or college/university visit) the Athletic Director needs a signed excuse (by a doctor's office or college/university) prior to participating in extracurricular activities for that day. 
5.  If a student is unlawfully absent on a FRIDAY, they are ineligible to participate in or attend any weekend practice or event (Saturday or Sunday).  
6.  If a student is absent 20 or more days during a semester (two- 9 week periods), that student is NOT eligible to participate in any athletic contest until he/she has been in school for a total of 60 days following the 20th day of absence.  
 
Disciplinary Action: 
1. Any student that is assigned a detention is ineligible to attend any extracurricular activities on the day of the scheduled detention. If the detention falls on the day prior to a competition or event, that student is ineligible to participate in the day-following event.   
2. Any student in In-School Suspension (ALC) is ineligible to participate in any extracurricular activities during the time frame of the assigned ALC.  
3.  Any student with Out-of-School Suspension is ineligible to participate in any extracurricular activities while serving the suspension.  
 
PIAA Transfer Rule

Transfers beyond 10th Grade:
Any student who transfers beyond his/her 10th grade year will be automatically ineligible for the post season in the following year (Junior or Senior year).
The student if otherwise eligible can only participate in the regular season.
The District 10 committee may again waive this period of ineligibility upon demonstration by the students that the transfer was necessitated by exceptional and unusual circumstances.
Examples:
1. Natural Break Transfer- Promotion from a junior high/middle school to a senior high.  
2. Administrative Transfer- Movement of a student within the same public school district (non-disciplinary movement initiated by school administration). 
3. Change of residence due to change in employment of the parent(s)/guardian(s)/foster parent(s).  
4. School Closing 
5. Change of school due to military reassignment
6. Release from a juvenile facility (court assigned school)
7. A demonstrable change in income or other financial resources that compels withdrawal from a private school (data to support must be provided).
