Special Services

Dear SRASD Families,

We hope you are well and enjoying your summer break! We are excited to introduce ourselves as the new Special Services Directors for the Slippery Area School District, bringing a wealth of experience, knowledge, and dedication to serving students with diverse learning needs.

Allow us to introduce ourselves:

Dr. Ashlea Rineer-Hershey: Serving the elementary schools, Ashlea has been teaching at SRU in the Special Education Department for 11 years. Previously, she was a special education teacher in Lancaster, PA, and has 7 years of experience as a Director of Student Services in the Plum Borough and Avonworth school districts in Allegheny County. She lives in Beaver County with her husband Shawn, their four kids, and two foster children.

Dr. Katie Leckenby: Serving the middle and high schools and overseeing students placed outside the district, Katie has 16 years of experience in education and is an Associate Professor in the Special Education Department at SRU. She has previously consulted as a Special Education Director in the North Allegheny and Greenville Area School Districts. She lives in Mercer with her husband, three sons, and three German Shorthaired Pointers.
