SCHOOL MEAL CHANGES FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR
On Friday, September 9, 2022, Governor Tom Wolf announced that Pennsylvania will make it possible for all schools participating in the School Breakfast Program (SBP) to provide free breakfast for all enrolled students during the 2022-2023 school year, Beginning with breakfast meals served on October 1, 2022.
Schools had some flexibilities during COVID so we could serve all students free meals. Some of those options expired, so many schools cannot serve all meals free this 2022-2023 School Year.
Families will do what they did before COVID. We will take applications and use family income to qualify students for free, reduced-price or paid meals.
Students are automatically eligible for free meals if anyone in the household receives SNAP, TANF or FDPIR benefits. Families with Medicaid may also qualify, depending on their income. Letters were mailed to families on July 14, 2022 and will continue to be mailed to families throughout the school year if your student is automatically eligible.
