Harrisville American Legion Essay Contest- Each year the National American Legion Auxiliary chooses an Americanism subject for this contest. Essays are judged on the local level, sent on to state for judging, then to Division and finally to National. The local level for American Legion Auxiliary includes the school districts, plus private schools and any Home Schoolers in the mentioned school districts. The Americanism Essay contest is divided into 6 classes covering 10 grade levels. The following information pertains to this years contest.
Innovations Challenge- PennDOT is inviting high school students in grade 9-12 to take part in the 8th annual Innovations Challenge. This competition encourages students to think critically, solve problems, and develop creative solutions to real-world transportation issues. This years challenge is to come up with a cost-effective way to raise awareness about seat belt safety and encourage safer behaviors on the road. The challenge is open to all 9-12th grade. Submissions are due January 31st.
Keystone Boy State-An educational workshop for high school student leaders. Students who attend have the opportunity to gain leadership skills through an intesnive week-long summer program. The focus of KBS is its hands-on simulation of municipal, county and state government.
