Slippery Rock Area High School SAP Program

The primary goal of the Student Assistance Program is to help students overcome barrier so that they may achieve, advance, and remain in school. While Student Assistance Programs exist in other areas of the country, the structure and operation of the program in Pennsylvania is a unique expression of an integrated model serving the needs of Pennsylvania families and students.

A SAP team is made up of school and agency staff to help families access school and community services for their child. SAP is a free and confidential support. In Pennsylvania, every school district is required to have a plan for identifying and assisting students who experience barriers to learning.

Children Grief Awareness

Children Grief Awarness Day is November 20th. This day is used to help others understand the impact of death on Children and their need for support. Blue butterflies are used to represent this day as a symbol of Hope. Students and Staff are able to pick up a blue butterfly from the Guidance Office where they will later be displayed. You can write who you are grieving or a postive message to those who may be struggling with grief in their life.

As the Holiday Season is upon us, the Caring team Coordinator at Highmark has passed along some attachments as well as some below excerpts from their Coping with Grief During the Holidays brochure. This information can be helpful as we remember our loved ones lost this Holiday season.
