This video was created for parents we could not see on Conference Day. Hopefully, we will continue to keep the lines of communication open. So far, things have been running somewhat smoothly thanks to your support along the way.

hello there grandparents some families we just want to take a few moments to give you a brief update on what we have been doing here in third grade and each of our classrooms and share some information we hope will help you forward with your kiddos in third grade okay so I'm going to start I am mrs. malenke hopefully you talk to me I've met so many of you talk to your reminder that you virtually through the open house video but I may teach math to all the kiddos in third grade things that I wanted to share with you some of the things that we have been doing so far and 3rd grade is trying to review some of those foundational second grade skills so we started talking about place value we were we were subtracting with out regrouping we are comparing numbers ordering numbers and then we moved into some new 3rd grade still we talked about rounding and many of the kids are at the point now where they have master that skill but if your kid I was still having a few hiccups here and there what's a good thing to be revealing with them as brownie does come up throughout the entire year estimation verse exactly answer we also have just moved into the concept of multiplication and we're really hitting us back so any multiplication facts the kiddos can do at home is only going to help them here because after multiplication we move into Division and they are very much related and knowing those multiplication facts will make division facts in the concept of division so much easier I have started multiplication cards for the kiddos they may be here or they may be in your child's math folder but they look like this there are many different facts on the animals will continue to add to these ring in the teacher with a different fact families that we are studying so that is a resource that your kiddos had here at school and they can bring home as long as they return them cuz they do often work with with those during the day when they have down time to keep practicing us so I'll I heard you to continue to work with kiddos on multiplication facts be ready for division to be coming your way and after that fractions will be coming your way as far as work goes I would encourage you to continue a reinforcing that everybody has turning on their paper I know that something that we all talked about that we still seeking is forgetting that I have to know who's beautiful work it is that I'm talking and reinforcing labels on their answers for word problems and also noticing numbers and the key words that will help them to know what operation we are working with in those word problem kind of tearing it apart as we called that in class I am going to pass it on right now we are in the nine weeks of Science and we just finished social studies so when you see your report card you'll see no great for filing for starting that now unfortunately it is virtual I know this is monkey has shared on her side Google Classroom the Kami the use of Kami and we're going to encourage that we have no idea what's going to happen day today hopefully will be we will be live but if by chance we go back and forth we were the kids to be able to do this a lot of it's pretty much on their own I know we know you're helping at home figuring this out with this is not how it's supposed to be doing this type of learning process but if they could possibly set a few times and practice the Kami and learning how to type on it and submitting to us we probably will end up doing a lot of permissions through Google Classroom I'm guessing that is going whether we're in school or not your kids as your child is absent it might be something that they can actually do it so they're not behind when I get back the next day but if you have any questions please please reach out to me on remind we all of us answer very quickly spell lines of communication especially right now JetBlue right and I'm I'm a teacher so so far we have the genres we have narrative nonfiction realistic fiction argumentative text informal informational text historical fiction and right now we're working also a tree so while we're doing all these genres we have covered many skills such as character setting plot main idea and key details author's point of view cause and effect and Senior we have been busy working on a lot of skills that are needed for reading looking forward we are going to be doing some more and from informational text and realistic fiction we are also going to be working on some folk tale biography answer so that we'll all be free to come and I ask that you please continue to read at home with your kiddos the more you can read the better also please practice those vocabulary words the weekly skills that I sent home tomorrow and the bright colored cardstock the skill sheet says have all the skin anagrammer concept that we are learning so well we thank you for your time and again I'd like to reiterate we are all very welcome. Happy to help you however we can reach out the reminder e-mail I we've been in contact with a lot of you and your kiddos through those mediums + Google classroom and like my package said we don't know how how we're heading in the future but we will get through it together we total understand the dynamic of you working and your kiddos working and we will continue to be here to support them and you the best weekend if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to any of us whenever you need to thank you thank you
