Mr. Garrett Miller

Welcome to Slippery Rock Area High School!
It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the Assistant Principal of Slippery Rock Area High School. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to serve as a leader in this district. I have been granted the extraordinary circumstance to serve and work alongside such ambitious students, a remarkably dedicated staff, and a supportive community. I was officially recognized and approved by the Slippery Rock Area School Board on August 23, 2021 and immediately assumed the role of Assistant Principal for the Open House that evening.

Many of you may recognize the name “Mr. Miller” within the community. From 2016-2021, I worked as a teacher in the Social Studies Department here at Slippery Rock Area High School. While I will certainly miss classroom teaching, I am honored to remain in the Slippery Rock Area School District, and eager to have an even greater impact in this new role. While this is my first experience as a school administrator, I have had a great deal leadership opportunities throughout my life. I proudly serve as an Infantry Officer in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, and will lean on the lessons learned from my military service throughout this transitional process.

One of my highest priorities will be to ensure that students remain at the center of all school-related decisions. In addition to holding students to high academic standards, it is my intention that each student develop high character and strong morals during their time at Slippery Rock Area High School. I promise you that I will work tirelessly to empower resilient and empathetic learners who understand the world around them and are prepared and equipped with the skills necessary for life after graduation. I aspire to create a school-wide culture of compassion, inclusion, and respect in which educators are valued as professionals. Because relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, I encourage you to become involved in any way possible. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Respectfully,

Garrett Miller
Assistant Principal
